What Causes Wrinkles

July 3rd, 2011

What causes wrinkles?  Surprisingly, it is not all about aging and poor lifestyle.  There are other factors that can lead you to fret in front of the mirror.  So before you start hating yourself once you look at your reflection, it is best to know everything you can about wrinkles.  This way, you can fight off the trouble it brings.

Wrinkles are the folds and creases that show up in the skin.  Commonly, it happens as we get older although it can happen to our skin the moment we immerse ourselves in the water for too long.  The first few wrinkles you can find on your face are due to facial expressions you’ve been wearing almost all your life.  Other important factors of what causes wrinkles include sun damage, dehydration, smoking, certain medication, and many more.

Wrinkles are also part of the natural aging process.  It is expected that our skin will become thinner and less elastic as we find an increase of candles in our birthday cake.  The skin normally experiences a decline in its ability to protect itself against damages as we grow older.  In due time, wrinkles and ugly creases on the face will form. Nevertheless, our genetic makeup is among the contributor of wrinkles.

Smoking can lead you to experience wrinkly skin.  Studies show that smoking can make the skin look older because of the reduction of blood supply on your skin.  So unless you want to look 45 when you are just in your 20’s, you better throw that cigarette away right now!

There are certain people, especially in Asian cultures, who are interested in various skin lightening products.  They have the perception that getting a skin as white as Snow White will make them beautiful.  Well, they should understand now that light skins are prone to sun damage which can accelerate the chances for wrinkles as they age.

What you wear can also dictate how wrinkly your skin will get.  Clothes are among the factors of what causes wrinkles.  Those people who have the habit of wearing hats and long sleeves experience lesser chance of developing wrinkles later in life compared to people with the same skin type but who are not fans of wearing protective clothing.

Do you know that some jobs make you prone to developing wrinkles?  Those jobs that tend to be exposed to sunlight experience a higher risk for wrinkles. Among these are the farmers, fishermen, golfers, sailors, gardeners, and tanning booth employees.  You do not have to quit your job however for the sake of not getting any wrinkles.  Just be a ware, and take precautions, like wearing some kind of skin protection.  This way, you can work without exposing your skin to damaging components.

There are truly many reasons why we can get wrinkles in our skin.  If we want to escape the pangs given by these factors of what causes wrinkles then we should think about protecting our skin.  While aging is inevitable but we can make the wrinkles that will appear on our skin to be less obvious by wearing some kind of skin protection.

Avoiding the Wrinkles that Come With Aging

February 29th, 2012

You will be surprised to learn how many people there are who are afraid to grow old. Walk into a convenience store someday; take a look at the cosmetics section, and you might surprise yourself. So many people, especially ladies are lined up trying to get some dream that helps slow down the aging process. But who am I to blame them. Everyone wants to avoid aging as much as possible, especially the wrinkles that come with it. I am no exception.

It is interesting to note how excited about growing up you are when you are young. Then all of a sudden, all that begins to change when you notice you are growing old. Everyone hates old age, no doubts about it, especially because of the wrinkles associated with age. But don’t despair because there are many solutions out there that can help you manage the aging process and the wrinkles that come with it.

Over the ages, a lot of people have tried to reverse the aging process, stop it, or at least slow it down. While it’s possible to slow it down, it’s impossible to stop it and extremely difficult to reverse it. Stopping aging altogether is an uphill climb, anyway; something that is never going to happen. This reality strangely has never stopped people from trying.

You can hide the effects of aging by using any among a number of creams and lotions that are designed just for that purpose. These creams work for a while, at least, softening the lines on your face and fading the wrinkles. When they no longer function the way you want them to, you can then move on to something more advanced, like weight loss surgery. But like all kinds of surgery, you need to know that it involves a huge financial burden.

Various surgical and scientific procedures today study means of slowing down the aging process, or even stopping it completely. They do life extension, genetic and tissue engineering. The amounts of success realized in these ventures are few, yet people press on. As for me, I commend such people who are pressing on because by pressing on, they encourage the scientists to come up with better anti-aging solutions.

How to Get Rid of Crow’s Feet

Crow's Feet

Our eyes are of course as important as every other feature on our face. Women and men will age, and with age come the signs and symptoms as well. These are normally in the form of facial wrinkles. For men, this is not too worrisome for men since they just think they look more dignified as they age. Women however, have always been more conscious about their appearance and wrinkles are a big source of worry for them. No one wants to see wrinkles and crow’s feet around their eyes and all the early sings associated with aging. The central part of the face is the region where wrinkles are the most visible. Unfortunately, signs of aging first occur in the facial wrinkles on our skin and around the eyes. So what causes these eye wrinkles and crow’s feet?

Causes for Wrinkles and Crow’s Feet

Thin Skin on Eyelid

The skin on our eyelids is the most vulnerable and sensitive part on our face and hence is more likely to get affected by sun damage and prone to signs of aging

Muscle Action of Eyelids

There is an underlying muscle beneath the eyelid called the Orbicularis Oculi. Since the skin of the eyelids is so thin, it can easily change shape, droop and become deformed due to this muscle. This is because when this muscle folds and contracts, the skin is stretched and relaxed multiple times and this makes the skin fold. As the skin ages with time, it loses the collagen and hence the lines and marks left by the muscle action become permanent and are seen in the form of wrinkles

Exposure to the Sun

The upper part of our face, such as the eyes, forehead and our cheeks get the most amount of sun exposure as compared to our entire body. Ultra Violet rays from the sun cause radiation which ultimately causes loss of collagen and the aging scars

How Can You Remove These Eye Wrinkles and Crow’s Feet?

Botox has become a popular way to remove crow’s feet and wrinkles nowadays. It is known as the miracle drug to remove any signs of aging around the eyes. Botox works by weakening the muscles of the face, allowing the muscle underneath to relax which then makes the lines on the face disappear. Small amounts of Botox are safe to use and work well as well.

Sun damaged skin can also be worked on through new fractional laser resurfacing. This is done on the skin around the eyes to remove any sun damaged areas of the skin. The recovery period is much quicker as compared to the older method which took 3 weeks to heal. The eyes need to be protected during the treatment method.

Non ablative fractional laser resurfacing also help since they do not peel off the skin and therefore the recovery time is significantly reduced. This can be used to remove crow’s feet but not for your eyelids. For this procedure you need to protect your eyes, and have 4 treatments, after every 3 or 4 weeks.

However, preventing these crow’s feet from starting out early is the best cure there is. Always wear sun block and hats for protection when going out. I always get one that suits my skin!

Wrinkles Around the Mouth: How to Prevent and Remove Lip Wrinkles

August 2nd, 2011

While researching information about wrinkles around the mouth, I came across this article and felt I should share it.  Getting rid of lip wrinkles is one of the top issues that have women searching for answers.

In the following article, Mr. Rubio discusses the most common reasons that women develop wrinkles around the mouth.  He also provides several alternatives for reducing the wrinkling problem around the lip and mouth area.

Ways to Remove Wrinkles Around Mouth

By Ray A. Rubio

Most women around the world are concerned about how they look and want to age gracefully. When wrinkles start to form, some of the most noticeable places for these fine lines to occur are at the corners of the eyes and mouth. Women are constantly looking for ways to chase away those pesky wrinkles. But until we discover the fountain of youth, we will have to rely on manufactured and homemade skin care products. As such, learning ways to remove wrinkles around mouth and other parts of the face is important if you wish to get beautiful skin today.

The most popular solution to the wrinkle problems is to use anti-wrinkle creams. Because most people want to look young and beautiful no matter what age they are, there are tons of wrinkle creams available for both men and women. In fact, anti-aging and anti-wrinkle creams are so popular that new products come out all the time and you cannot even turn on a television without seeing a commercial for anti-aging cream.

Most creams work because they use collagen, a natural substance that is found in the body under the skin to keep it firm. These creams work by sealing in and reducing the appearances of fine lines and wrinkles. There are special creams available for the wrinkles around your mouth. If these kinds of wrinkles are a big problem for you, you may want to consider getting a cream designed to get rid of these specific wrinkles.

A great way to avoid getting wrinkles around the mouth is to stop smoking if you do. In order to smoke you have to pucker your lips and doing this over and over for years will cause lines to appear around the mouth. Smoking also causes other cosmetic defects to the face and mouth that can eventually lead to premature aging. Therefore, if you want to help prevent premature aging you should stop smoking.

If you want to avoid damaging your skin you should develop the habit of wearing sunscreen at a young age. You should never go out of the house without using some kind of sun protection. Sun will damage skin cells and cause the collagen under the skin to break down and deteriorate. When your collagen starts to deteriorate you will notice that certain places in your skin are sagging, causing lines and wrinkles especially around the mouth.

Make sure to take good care of your skin especially the areas around the mouth and the corners of the eyes. You should make it a habit of exfoliating your skin about twice a week. I suggest using a natural product for this process, one of the best recipes that I have found that works really well is mashed strawberries. Exfoliation will also help your skin absorb the anti-wrinkle creams.

You should also make gradual changes to your life style. There are many ways to prevent premature aging, including exercising. As long as you use good products to help reduce the appearance of fine line and wrinkles you will see the wrinkles around your mouth slowly start to disappear. Make sure that you talk to your doctor before embarking on any fitness or exercise routine.

Follow these simple tips, and in no time you’ll be kissing those wrinkles around your mouth goodbye!

What Causes Wrinkles – Why the Lines and Wrinkles Form

July 20th, 2011

In my quest for more information about what causes wrinkles, I discovered an article that explains the myth that age is what causes the lines and wrinkles to form on our faces.

I’ve always said that age is the number one cause of wrinkling. In truth, though, age isn’t what causes wrinkles on our skin. Our increasing years have simply allowed more time for our skin to become exposed to the many factors that cause our skin to wrinkle. It’s the result of exposure to the sun, smoking, toxins from eating processed foods, and more that our skin loses its elasticity and becomes thinner, damaged and wrinkled.

For years people have been trying to hide the fine lines and wrinkles which are bound to appear on their faces. Some people manage to live with them; others try their best to cover them with makeup. Now, it is time for you to understand why do fine lines and wrinkles form and what is the way to treat them permanently.

At a closer look, you will realize that age is not responsible for wrinkles, at least not directly. It is pretty obvious that your body losses power as time goes by. We can compare the appearance of wrinkles with getting gray hair. As you advance in age, your hair will lose melanin. Without this substance, it will turn gray.

You might have noticed that some people have gray hair when they get in their late 20s or 30s. This is exactly why you shouldn’t consider gray hair and wrinkles sings of getting old. It all depends on how your body reacts to the environment and just because you have one of this issues, it doesn’t mean that you are aging.

The process is exactly the same with fine lines and wrinkles. After your teenage years, the body will lose two proteins which have an important role. Elastin and collagen are used by your skin in order to maintain firm and perfectly smooth. Once your body loses them, you will be vulnerable to wrinkles.

This is exactly how wrinkles form. The process is simple and natural. Because of this, scientists have come up with a natural method of solving the problem.

If the body lacks elastin and collagen, why not make it produce more? The first try failed, because they were trying to pun these proteins directly into the cream. But now, we have the perfect method. With ingredients like coenzyme Q10, your body will get the strength it needs for keeping the skin firm.

This treatment will not only keep wrinkles away from you, but it can also make the existing ones disappear. With this method available, there is no point in not taking advantage of the information and start searching for a natural cream.

Fillers – Filler injections are to some extent akin to Botox injections, nonetheless they function in another way. Fillers help to plump the region of the skin where the lines and wrinkles are, instead of paralyzing the motion of the muscle tissue. The result of using fillers is a clearer looking skin.
